PEACH PRC Live Review

I've seen Peach PRC quite a few times over the years, whether at festivals or opening for other artists, but somehow, I'd never actually made it to one of her own headline shows. With Salty opening the night, one of my favourite Australian pop artists, I was even more excited to finally catch one.

We got to the venue just after doors and I was honestly surprised it wasn't busier. It definitely filled up as the night went on, but for someone who's become such a huge name in Australian pop, I really thought it would've been sold out.

One thing that immediately stood out though was the commitment of the crowd. Everyone had fully embraced the fairy garden theme, dressed in pinks and greens, and it honestly felt so wholesome. The stage matched perfectly too, covered in fake grass, plants and, of course, the iconic Peach PRC pole.

I'd never seen Salty perform before, but I'd been a fan of her music for a while. Backed by two dancers, the whole set was full of energy and I genuinely couldn't look away. What impressed me most was how effortlessly she sang while dancing around the stage.

When her set finished, everyone around us was talking about how incredible she was. I genuinely think Salty is one of the most exciting pop artists Australia has right now, and I don't think it'll be long before she's headlining this same venue.

Then it was time for what everyone had been waiting for.

Peach opened with Piper, beginning the show on the pole while her dancers moved around the stage. I was so impressed with how easy she made it look. Spinning around the pole while singing at the same time is definitely not something I could do. I'd be on the floor within three seconds.

As soon as the first song finished, the room absolutely exploded. Girls were yelling that they loved Peach, while one guy proudly shouted, "My girlfriend loves you!", which got a laugh from the whole audience.

A few songs later came Celebrity Crush, one of the few songs from the new album I'd already spent some time with, and it sounded great live.

One thing that really stood out to me throughout the night was how much Peach has improved as a vocalist. I've seen her a handful of times now and her breath control is so much stronger than it used to be. You can really tell how much work she's put in because she sounded incredible all night.

Perfect For You followed and instantly became one of the biggest singalongs of the night. While the room may not have been sold out, it definitely sounded like it.

Peach then slowed things down with I Wouldn't Mind, which I'd never heard before. It ended up being my favourite song of the whole night. It was such a beautiful moment and, even though it was one of the quieter songs, the audience stayed completely locked in, singing every word back to her.

The energy shot straight back up with Miss Erotica, before another huge singalong during Forever Drunk.

One of the most interesting moments came during God Is A Freak. Peach completely reworked the song into a much more stripped-back version and it actually took me a few seconds to realise what song it was. Once it clicked though, I loved it. It gave the lyrics a completely different feeling and really suited the direction her music is heading now. The crowd still screamed every word like it was the original version anyway.

Eucalyptus was another really special moment. Peach played a plant by attaching electrodes that translated its electrical signals into sound. I don't fully understand how it works, but I absolutely loved it. The moment became even more special when the first few rows held up eucalyptus leaves as part of a fan project. Peach admitted it almost brought her to tears. Throughout the song, the room was completely silent. Everyone just stood there taking it all in.

There were a few songs I wasn't familiar with after that, but judging by the people around me, they definitely were. Every lyric was being screamed right back at Peach.

To finish the night, Peach mashed together Blondes, Josh and Like A Girl Does. I thought it worked really well, although I could also understand if some fans wished they'd heard each song in full.

Walking out of the venue, I kept thinking about how much Peach has grown as a performer. Her vocals have improved so much, she's so much more confident on stage, and her connection with her fans is something really special. The little chats between songs were funny and genuine, and you can tell she genuinely loves the community she's built.

Since getting home, I've had her new album on repeat and I'm enjoying it more with every listen. I'll definitely be back the next time Peach PRC tours, and hopefully there'll be some more new music by then.
